Kate here from VH1’s The FABlife, reporting backstage from the Divas rehearsals. Kelly Clarkson just finished up her rehearsal here at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) and — no lie — we had chills through the whole thing. Girl can sing. The Idol winner is also beyond friendly (like beyond, beyond, guys. I was swooning.), and chatted with us about her now infamous blog post regarding Kanye West’s VMAs tantrum. We can’t reveal which of her songs she’s singing tomorrow night, but here’s a hint: it’s off her latest album. Tight band, stylish set, and a wealth of impressive songs. Kanye West’s Storytellers show was a series highpoint. We didn’t have room for all the performances in the show, so here’s an extra, Web-only glide through “Love Lockdown,” one of the most addictive tunes from West’s recent 808s & Heartbreak. It’s all about the emotions that erupted after a recent breakup, and it’s obvious the singer is pouring his heart out. “Thank you for being my shrink today, and the stage is my couch,” he tells the audience, “Thank you for allowing me to get some things off of my chest and out of my mind. My pain shall be your pleasure.” Kanye goes the whole way, as usual.

Hip-hop’s biggest star swooped into our studios last weekend, delivering a performance for our Storytellers show that was full of the passion and authority that Kanye West fans have come to expect from their hero. His recent Heartbreak & 808s disc was all about lost love.

The show, which airs on VH1 on February 28th at 9/8c, showcases several of new tunes (Download the disc at Rhapsody). It also digs into some of Kanye’s previous hits.  Here’s a list of the songs that are scheduled to be included in the final cut.

You know, Kanye West says a lot of stuff. Some of it is simple, courage, and profound, like his “George Bush doesn’t like black people” proclamation in the wake of the Katrina nightmare. But some of it is glib, pissy, and untrue, like his promise to never return to MTV after his 2007 performance was positioned somewhere other than the main stage. Well, never fear. Rap’s biggest name will do his thing at the 2008 VMAs party this Sunday night at 9 pm ET - on MTV. He’s part of a gathering crowd of stars participating in the annual show, including Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and host Russell Brand.

Wanna dress like Mr. West? Now you can!

Kanye West is sure to quickly become the most egotistical, self-obsessed fashion designer in the world with the release of his new shoe line for Louis Vuitton. Yep, Kanye’s putting the rap game on hold to take the shoe industry by storm. But he’s not stopping there! He’s already designing his own clothes, and he showed up dressed totally in his own designs while in Paris last week to attend the famous French designer’s runway show. “I grew up with the Louis look, you know,” the rapper gushed. “I just love the style.”

Ladies, don’t feel left out! He’s doing a women’s line of clothes (separate from his stuff for LV) in the fall. Tell us - will you wear Kanye couture? [WWD/E! Online]

Jay-Z jumped to defend pal Kanye West after Amy Winehouse’s wacky performance at the Glastonberry Festival in London where she called the “Stronger” singer a c—t. Amy improvised the lyrics of her song “Some Unholy War” to say, “At least I’m not opening for a c–t like Kanye.” It’s moments like these that make live performances so fabulous!

Jay-Z told MTV,

“I don’t agree with it. [Kanye’s] my brother and the biggest artist on Roc-A-Fella right now. … I guess I should hook them up, because he’s a great guy, too. I don’t know what the problem is. I don’t know where that came from.”

Of course, never one to let others steal the spotlight, the Jiggaman participated in his own musical feud with Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher, by performing his own rendition of Oasis’ “Wonderwall” complete with a guitar strapped to his shoulder. Gallagher had criticized Jay as headliner of the traditionally rock-based festival, telling the BBC,

“If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. I’m sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance. Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music. I’m not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It’s wrong.”

Jay told MTV Base of his on-stage response,

“I have a sense of humor like a Brit, so I thought people would appreciate that. Noel Gallagher was one of the biggest detractors, so I figured that was a cool way to start the show.”

Celebrities using the media to blast each other is so out; on-stage disses are the new way to play the celebrity feud game.

What a great weekend for Wino wackiness. Amy performed at both Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday celebration and the UK’s Glastonbury festival, and thankfully she was up to her regular insanity! During her Glastonbury set Amy got physical with a fan in the audience, flailing wildly and whacking the guy before a few beefy security dudes stepped in. (Check out the clip above.) Unfazed, Amy then improvised some lines in her song “Some Unholy War” about Blake Incarcerated, adding in “I’m not opening for a c*nt like Kanye.”

Kanye then took to his broken MacBook Air - of course - to tell the world that he doesn’t give a sh*t what Amy Winehouse thinks of him. Do these two thrive off of the drama or what? If Blake gets locked up for good they should seriously think about getting together. It’d be the hottest mess ever!

Camila Alves is the 25-year-old model who “made a baby” with shirtless wonder Matthew McConaughey. She also, apparently, happens to be the latest object of Kanye West’s affection. Earlier today, the temperamental rapper posted a shot of McConaughey’s babymama on his blog. In the past several weeks, Kanye has uploaded shots of ladies he fancies…and Camila’s the latest. Think Ye knows Camila’s flat stomach looks a little different these days?

Is there anything more enjoyable to read than a Kanye West blog post freak out? Yeah, we thought not. The latest rant from your favorite fashion/music/ridiculous sunglasses icon about criticism from fans that he went on too late at Bonnaroo a couple of weeks ago is perhaps his finest work. A masterpiece of crazy blogging! Amazingly, this is just a tiny bit of the 700+ word rant. Get ready to be blinded by explanation points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sick of negative people who just sit around trying 2 plot my downfall… Why???? I understand if people don’t like me because I like me or if people think tight clothes look gay or people say I run my mouth to much, But this Bonnaroo thing is the worst insult I’ve ever had in my life. What’s a controversy without commentary from Kanye West? The biggest ego in hip-hop took to his blog to weigh in on the new beef between veteran rapper Ice-T and newcomer Soulja Boy, and Mr. West is all about the teen in this tit-for-tat. Who woulda thought? Kanye even compares the Southern kid to Nas, which is a pretty hardcore hip-hop compliment. However we imagine that had Soulja Boy beat out Kanye for that Best Rap Song Grammy, he may be singing a different tune. His full blog post is below.

Soulja boy is fresh ass hell and is actually the true meaning of what hip hop is sposed to be. He came from the hood, made his own beats, made up a new saying, new sound and a new dance with one song. He had all of America rapping this summer. If that ain’t Hip Hop then what is? A bunch of wannabe keep it real rappers that ain’t even relevant, recycling samples trying to act like it’s 96 again and all they do is hate on new sh*t? N*ggas always talk about the golden age but for a 13 year old kid, this is the golden age!!! That song was so dope cause everything he said had a hidden meaning… that’s Nas level sh*t… he just put it over some steel drums which is also some Nas sh*t if you had the 2nd album cassette with the bonus track “Silent Murder” on it. In closing… new n*ggas get ya money$$$$$$$$$$ Keep this shit fresh and original…. ain’t no f*ckin’ rules to this sh*t and that’s what real hip hop is to me.
