How do you make money for a good cause? Sell stuff. How do you guarantee that people want what you’re selling? Frame it around American Idol. To help bolster the funds raised by this week’s “Idol Gives Back” show, zealots can now purchase U.S. Postage stamps. The images are of each year’s winner, and the Kelly Clarkson edition is out now. Stamps for Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, and Jordin Sparks are on their way. But they made a BIG mistake, right? If they wanted to help those in need, they should have put Sanj and his ponyhawk on that kickoff stamp. He’d definitely move more units than Hicks. And what about including little Kristi Lee?

Just yesterday we reported that the original American Idol had fired her longtime manager as a result of her alleged fall-out with label head Clive Davis over her upcoming album My December. This afternoon, word has come via Kelly’s website that her upcoming summer tour has been canceled!
Kelly wrote on her site that, "The fact is that touring is just too much too soon," but a statement released by her representatives gives the darker details: "Plans for Kelly Clarkson’s summer tour have been shelved for now as the
singer and her team re-evaluate her show’s size and scope." Ticket sales for her shows were also lower than expected.
Eek. What is happening to our once solid, stable pop star? Could her album really be that bad? If she starts reaching for the clippers or crashing her car into trees we’ll know she’s in real trouble.

Kelly Clarkson’s taking matters into her own hands. In the latest offensive in the war against her record label, Clarkson just fired manager (and former ally) Jeff Kwatinetz, who, according to sources, "excaberbated a thermonuclear situation." With just two weeks til the release of Clarkson’s My December — and extreme resistance from RCA and label head Clive Davis — Clarkson and Kwatinetz fell out over the direction of the album. With Kwatinetz allegedly siding with Davis, Clarkson informed him she’d no longer be requiring his services, as of Monday evening.
This is the latest in a long line of disagreements Clarkson has been outspoken about. Most recently, the singer refused to perform her single "Never Again" (which is currently falling fast at #29 on the airplay chart) at the Idol Gives Back concert, and slammed those who wanted her to: "To promote yourself on a charity event is beyond crass. People are starving and dying and I’m up there singing some bitter pop song? And believe me, everyone wanted me to sing it. Because they are jaded and they have no soul."

News about American Idol wannabe Kelly Clarkson’s feud with her label head, Clive Davis, continues to surface. The New York Post reports that the Grand Old Man of pop is furious that Clarkson isn’t listening to his suggestions about her music. We, on the other hand, have begun thinking that the lady doth protest too much. Frankly, if Clive Davis wanted to shut Kelly Clarkson down, he could. (To paraphrase Cliff Huxtable, he gave Kelly life . . . and he can take it away.) Since he hasn’t, we’re forced to assume that all this strife might all be a media stunt. In which case, it is you, dear public, who suffers.
