Oprah loves to talk, so today she’s blabbing all about Mariah and Nick’s wedding on her show. O even snagged some wedding pics for us to peep and reveals that Mariah got a “Mrs. Cannon” tat on her back before they were married. Spontaneous indeed! It’s rumored that Mimi might show up on the show today to dish her own dirt, but until then here’s a clip of the chatter, featuring our fave gal pal Gayle King, as well as famous spouses Mark Consuelos (married to Kelly Ripa) and Alexandra Wentworth (who calls George Stephanopoulos her hubby).

Why, Oprah, why? Our talk queen heroine has invited the king of crazy back on her show to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his flick Risky Business. Tommy will make not one, but TWO appearances on her show in May to coincide with the sweeps season, when all of America tunes in to see what the networks can cough up before the TV execs speed away to the Hamptons for the summer and leave us watching reruns of Home Improvement on cable.

Tom’s rep gushed that, “He is really looking forward to it.” Of course he is. The guy is excited about EVERYTHING. So get ready for the most intense two hours of television America - and when it’s over, pour a little bit of Cristal out for your girl Katie Holmes, who experiences that insanity on a daily basis. Poor thing.

TMZ.com, Time Warner’s star-stalking operation, has an option in its navigation titled “Nice Stories,” positioned directly after “Drunks” and “Fights.” As evidenced here (at least, at the time of this post), “Nice Stories” takes users to a page with nothing on it except the following text: “Posted Dec 12th 2007 2:33PM by TMZ Staff.” Also, if you have your speakers on, you’ll be delighted to hear the sound of crickets chirping. We’re assuming Dec. 12 was the last time that a TMZ staff member could think of a “Nice Story” to write and that this alleged “Nice Story” expired, leaving the page sadly blank. Well, the VH1 Blog staff finds this unacceptable, so we’ve decided to pick up TMZ’s slack by adding some posts to its “Nice Stories” news desk:

Just when Oprah’s permeating perfection was about to get really annoying, she had to go and get involved in a scandal that suddenly made her human again. Well, as human as the richest woman in the world with her own school in South Africa can be. This fall drama rocked her new Academy for Girls when students came forward and charged a school employee with physical and sexual abuse. The dorm matron, Tiny Makopo, was eventually arrested, and Oprah herself went down to Africa numerous times to resolve the situation. When she finally spoke out, Winfrey called it “one of the most devastating, if not the most devastating experience of my life,” and she vowed to “clean house” at the school. Knowing Oprah as well as we do (from watching her for years and years), we know she means business.

There’s only one thing we like more than The Oprah Winfrey Show’s “Favorite Things” episode, and that is the joyful meltdowns the audience members have when they discover that they’re getting some sh*t for free. Oprah went out of her way do this year’s episode in Macon, Georgia - which has consistently given the talk show its highest ratings. Obviously the southern ladies were already a tad bit pumped to have their girl Opes in the house even before she revealed all the goodies they’d be getting. And yes, these fans all received a $4000 fridge complete with a flatscreen TV built into the door, which is a freak-out worthy object, for sure. But to have the same ecstatic panic attack for a Josh Groban Christmas CD? Now that just seems like they’re milkin’ it for the cameras just a bit.

This show simultaneously demonstrates the best of Oprah’s Oprah’s sponsors’ generosity and the worst of America’s lust for material things, and leaves us a bit confused about what the holiday season is really about: giving - or getting (a lot of crap)? Watch the video and let us know what you’d rather be doing - we’ll be in the kitchen wearing our some sweet Ugg boots, and making a love sandwich for Stedman with our brand new panini maker. The abuse scandal that’s rocked Oprah Winfrey’s South African school for girls has resulted in the arrest of the school’s matron (whatever that is).
