Like Beyonce, we did not attend the grand re-opening of Jay-Z‘s 40/40 Club in Times Square last night. (Was Beyonce tending to Blue Ivy, or did she have more important things to do, like catch the season premiere of American Idol? We’ll never know…)
But of course there was a plethora of celebrity at the soiree to make up for Queen Bey’s absence. Of course, proud papa Jay was on hand, as was Renee Graziano from Mob Wives, Spike Lee, Selita Ebanks, Ashanti, Russell Simmons, basically this place was a who’s who of who’s hot. Everyone knows that Ashanti and Nelly are a couple – and every knows that every one knows, except the lovey-dovey pair. So when Ashanti spoke about her man this weekend, she of course kept it vague and unclear, even though we all know what’s going on. “Me and Nelly, we’re good friends. We kick it – hang out a lot,” the singer coyly revealed. “The industry is very hard, so it’s good to have fun and lighten it up.”
But wait! Ashanti kept going, and she dropped a tiny info bomb when asked he she and her man might be marrying soon. “”Oh no. Noooo! No engagement. But definitely in the future. Ha! Ha!”
Is she teasing us or telling the truth? Either way, we hope there’s a ring involved. [People]
Woohoo! Ashanti, who performed on Good Morning America this morning to promote her new album, is clearly psyched by how damn good she looks. She’s almost as pumped as former famous dude Ja Rule is about now singing in her shadow. Ouch.
