It’s a guessing game, but each year, concert-goers fantasize about what special-guest performers will join artists already on Hot 97′s Summer Jam bill with surprise on-stage appearances. Last night, in front of a crowd of 50,000 fans, some of hip hop’s biggest names performed in East Rutherford, New Jersey’s New Meadowlands Stadium, and while there may not have been that jaw-dropping “big moment,” (read: no Kanye or Jay-Z, no never-before-heard songs, and no beefs), the crowd was kept thoroughly entertained by the oodles of rappers that poured onto the stage.

Repping the South, Lil Wayne, Drake, and Rick Ross brought fans to their feet during a DJ Khaled-led performance of new Song of the Summer contender “I’m On One” and, to keep things balanced, Love & Hip Hop‘s own Jim Jones performed with his entourage-heavy posse of Dipset pals. The Harlem rapper even brought out co-star and friend Olivia Longott during his set to sing her new ballad, “December.” But VH1 show talent are certainly not strangers to this pandemonium-filled hip hop Woodstock; it was just last year that we caught Basketball Wives’ Jennifer Williams backstage enjoying the perks of VIP.

Other highlights from last night’s event included a dancing Chris Brown bringing out Busta Rhymes to perform “Look At Me Now” (sans Weezy), Lloyd Banks welcoming Swizz Beatz, Ryan Leslie, and Mobb Deep to the stage with him, and Diddy joining his Bugatti brother, Ross, to help close the show. You can find the full set list here, and check out the gallery below for photos from the performances to see what you may have missed!

Fiddy’s Circus Life

070523_50cent Love him or hate him, it’s hard to deny that 50 Cent is ringmaster of the rap circus right now, thanks to all of the lunacy swirling around him.

For instance, only a "complex" MC like Fiddy could release album artwork that’s as somber as this, yet simultaneously make the sophomorically sexual "Amusement Park" the album’s first video (watch). Don’t want to watch? Just envision "Cherry Pie" with beats.

His "art" aside, 50 the showman recently put the beef smackdown on a boxer-wearing Cam’ron. Curtis responded to Cam’s recent desperate poolside salvo by saying the Dipset dandy was "delusional" and "shouldn’t be in front of no camera with Daisy Dukes on."

So does 50′s posturing work? Well, a panicky MIMS recently denied saying that 50 should be jealous of him (HIMS?), and went out of his way to kiss Fiddy’s butt from overseas. "I respect (50 Cent’s) work and his ambition and also his business methods," the Zune-peddling MC told SOHH.

070509_50_jj_vr Did 50 Cent jack a beat from a member of Cam’ron‘s crew? Is Jim Jones even a part of Cam’s crew? And who’s 50 dating these days?

So many questions about Curtis. And we haven’t even touched upon his upcoming album.

50′s new single, "Amusement Park" leaked yesterday, and astute listeners called him out for biting heavily off of Jim Jones’ "Your Majesty." You can listen to both here, but it seems pretty obvious that the producer simply reused Jones’ original. (Somwhere, Cam’ron is rubbing his hands together and cackling maniacally, even if he and Jones are no longer buds.)

50 is also rumored to be dating soap-opera star Victoria Rowell. The kicker? Rowell is 46, while 50 is just 31. And the soap that Rowell used to star on? The Young and the Restless. You can’t make this stuff up.

070507_jimjones After his infamous anti-snitching interview on 60 Minutes, the world knows how ridiculously much loyalty means to Cam’ron. But do his closest friends even have the Dipset head honcho’s back?

Apparently not.

In an interview with Hot 97′s Miss Info, Dipset rapper Jim Jones (left) said that he hasn’t spoken with Cam’ron in a year and considers their friendship to be more of a burden than a blessing. "I’m through (with) being in hot water because of (Cam’ron)," Jones is quoted as saying on Miss Info’s blog. "I kept quiet out of loyalty … But now I can’t be next to you."

Silent Cam

070423_camron Don’t expect hip-hop star Cam’ron to win any good neighbor awards anytime soon.

Last night, in a 60 Minutes feature on snitching, Cam talked about his extreme aversion to cooperating with police. When asked if he would tell the cops if he knew a serial killer lived next door, the rapper said: "I wouldn’t call and tell anybody on [the killer] — but I’d probably move. But I’m not going to call and be like, ‘The serial killer’s in 4E.’" (Watch the interview.)

While his hard-line stance is laughable, Cam deserves some (not much, but some) credit for honesty. When asked if he would soften his anti-snitching stance if his record label asked him to, the rapper said he wouldn’t have to, because a label "knows what makes money … so [they] would never be that stupid."

Revealing inside info about your label for your own interests … Doesn’t that make Cam a snitch?
