There are two things we’re passionate about here at the VH1 Blog: The shows on our network, and awesome, nostalgic photos of celebrities. Our network has been around since 1985, but our blog has only existed for the past few years, so there are a lot of shows and old events we never got the chance to cover…Do you see where we’re going with this? Yes, we’ve decided to bring you a new feature on the blog called “If The VH1 Blog Existed Back In…” For our inaugural nostalgstravaganza (new word!), please feast your eyes on this gem from July, 1988, a photo of the a few of the original VH1 VJs (back when they were called VH-1: Video Hits One VJs), Bobby Rivers, Roger Rose and, oh yeah, Rosie O’Donnell.
And since everyone already knows that the first ever video to be played on MTV was “Video Killed The Radio Star,” by The Buggles, you might want to know that the first video to debut on VH1 was Marvin Gaye‘s performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Add that one to your trivia night and see how many people have never heard that fun fact before.
