Madonna and Guy Ritchie attempted to devour divorce rumors by being photographed going out to eat last night at upscale restaurant Cesca in New York City. The couple awkwardly held hands and looked slightly downtrodden as they entered the elegant Upper West Side eatery for an adults-only dinner, without their three children Lourdes, 12, Rocco, 7, and David, 2.

Although the break-up rumors have swirled, with reports of everything from Madonna consulting a divorce lawyer to having an affair with A-Rod and Guy turning his back on Kabbalah, her spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg said, “There are no plans for Madonna and Guy to divorce.”

So are Guy and Madonna really working it out or are they just attempting to present a united front for the media???

Amid rumors that Madonna and Guy Ritchie’s seven year marriage is crumbling, Guy arrived in New York City yesterday and went straight to Madonna’s Upper West Side apartment. Shots of Madonna without her wedding ring, reports of meeting with a high-power divorce lawyer, Guy allegedly turning his back on Kabbalah, and new rumors of a tryst with New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez have only fueled speculation that the marriage between the pop star and film director is crumbling. Has Guy flown in from London to save their union?

Guy arrived in New York Monday evening and at approximately 6:30pm entered Madonna’s posh Central Park West apartment, accompanied by two bodyguards.

Yesterday, Guy Ritchie’s mother Lady Amber Leighton called the break-up reports “works of fiction” and told the Daily Mail that, “they are no different to most other couples and we all know that being together can be hard sometimes. But like other couples they work at keeping their relationship happy and fresh.”

Madonna’s spokeswoman released a statement to People denying that Guy’s trip was to save his marriage. 

“Madonna’s husband Guy arrived in New York last night to be with his wife and family (not in a last ditch attempt to save his marriage which does not need saving),” Liz Rosenberg told People. “There are no plans for Madonna and Guy to divorce.”

In the latest development of the rumored Madonna – Guy Ritchie split, UK newspaper The Sun is reporting that Guy has stopped practicing Kabbalah. While Madonna has become increasingly involved in the mystical Jewish religion, Guy has turned his back on it.

A source close to the couple told The Sun, “He has gone hot and cold on the religion in the past, but now he’s given up on it altogether. It has always been her thing and is more a part of her life than ever.”
“He was genuinely into it and it helped the bond between them. But then he backtracked a little with his gestures of public backing, like wearing the bracelet, because he didn’t like being such a high-profile follower.”
“He also became suspicious of all the Kabbalah crowd living off her money.”
Sadly, things are not looking good for the Material Mom and her producer husband. Reportedly, Madge has sought legal counsel in Paul McCartney’s divorce attorney, Fiona Shakleton. Madge was also spotted in NYC yesterday, without her wedding ring.

Amid rumors that Madonna and husband Guy Ritchie’s marriage is on the rocks, UK newspaper The Times of London is reporting that Madge has taken a pivotal step on the road to splitsville, meeting with former Beatle Paul McCartney’s divorce attorney, Fiona Shakleton.

Shakleton, aka the “steel magnolia,” was famously doused by water by Heather Mills after securing all but $50 million of an almost $1 billion fortune for McCartney.

Madonna, whose fortune is estimated at $600 million, is believed to have been seeking counsel regarding divorcing her husband of 7 years, whom she married in a lavish ceremony at a castle in Scotland, reportedly with no pre-nup. They have two children, Rocco, 7, and David Banda, almost 3, whose adoption from Malawi was finalized earlier this year. Madonna also is mother to Lourdes, 11, from a previous relationship.

The Times is also reporting that Guy has sought counsel at a lesser known law firm, Forsters.

Another source has stepped forward to corroborate yesterday’s piece of gossip regarding Madonna’s estrangement from her tell-all-penning brother, Christopher Ciccone. Like Rupert Everett, this anonymous voice says that it all stems from the gay-hating ways of Madonna’s husband, Guy Ritchie: “Guy is a homophobe. At their wedding, Chris made a joke about Guy being gay. That set the tone for their relationship.”

So, is Guy Ritchie unaware that he married the closest thing to a gay man with a vagina that we have on our fine planet? And how is it that the biggest gay icon on the planet hasn’t turned her husband out by now? Something just doesn’t make sense here: either the story’s total crap, or Madonna needs to relocate her tolerance-seeking to her bedroom. [New York Daily News]

The book’s due out next month, so we hope Madonna does something ridiculous to draw attention away from the tell-all.
