This week on Single Ladies, Val decides to jump back on the dating horse and take a ride on the mechanical bull. But since she’s a woman of morals, she is certainly not going to be anyone’s reverse cowgirl.
A lot of people are talking about the two-hour premiere of Single Ladies, which aired last night. (Including us — check out our recap for a Single Ladies primer.) The show, which stars Stacey Dash, LisaRaye McCoy, and Charity Shea, has also caught the eye of several critics. While it’s true that the series does focus on the lives of three single women who love fashion, dating, and the city they live in, rest assured it “isn’t just the wanna-be Southern cousin of Sex and the City. It’s got a life of its own.” You don’t have to take our word for it, that’s actually what the New York Daily News said. Check out our review rundown to find out what others are saying about the sexy new show:
After Queen Latifah and LisaRaye McCoy visited Big Morning Buzz Live last week to talk about their new show, Single Ladies, we got the chance to sit down with LisaRaye to talk a bit more about the new show. The series is set and shot in Atlanta, so we had some questions about the city, which LisaRaye explains, is turning into a “mini-L.A.”
When we asked her what it’s like to portray a character like Keisha Greene, a woman with many suitors, she told us that she’s a pro at love scenes by now. “You meet and you’re like hi, how are you? And then your tongue is all down each other’s throat.” Lucky for her, she doesn’t seem to mind that, and she’s having fun living vicariously through Keisha.
Single Ladies premieres on Monday, May 30 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, immediately following the premiere of the new season of Basketball Wives.
LisaRay McCoy has a lot going on at the moment. She executive produces her own reality show, LisaRaye: The Real McCoy, and she’s one of the stars of Single Ladies on VH1, which premieres on Monday, May 30 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
When we spoke to LisaRaye recently, she compared herself to the Energizer Bunny, she just keeps pouring all her energy into her various projects and somehow manages to not burn out. And lest you think she’s just reading her lines off a page, we also talked about how she gets to insert her personality and signature fashion choices into her character, Keisha, on Single Ladies to really make the character her own.
In real life, actress LisaRaye McCoy is newly single and trying to find someone special. On Single Ladies, LisaRaye plays a woman who is fiercely single and enjoys dating a few special people all at once. We spoke to the actress recently to find out about her character Keisha Greene who, she explains, likes to play games with men although it causes some problems in her love life. But in her real life? “LisaRaye don’t really play those kind of games,” she says. Which might explain why she later tells us, “I’m seriously, vicariously living through Keisha Greene right now…She’s getting it in more than LisaRaye is.”
Single Ladies premieres Monday, May 30 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
Queen Latifah joined her old pal Jimmy Fallon on his talk show last night to talk about Single Ladies, which she produces and will appear on later in the season.
Latifah, who is looking gorgeous these days, is having a good week: not onlywas she just inducted into the New Jersey Hall Of Fame, but Single Ladies premieres on Monday, May 30, as a two-hour movie event at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The series, as she describes it, is “a more urban, colorful Sex and The City,” focusing on three women in Atlanta who are trying to “navigate love and life and heartbreak and survival and sex and love right now, in our modern times.”
