It’s always fun to follow celebrities on Twitter, but here at VH1, our on-air talent has taken Tweeting and turned it into an art form. Take the cast of Mob Wives, who went from not even having Twitter accounts seven weeks ago to having more than 100,000 followers now. Or the ladies from Basketball Wives, who keep us updated on all their t-shirt drama, even when the cameras aren’t rolling. (Not to mention the crossover love these women have for one another’s shows, which is kind of sweet.)
The point is, you should be following them, and to make it easy, we’ve taken the liberty of doing all the Twitter dirty work so you can follow everyone on the network just by checking our our comprehensive VH1 Twitterpedia below. Need to know the handles of the folks from the last season of Celebrity Rehab or You’re Cut Off? We’ve got all that and more. Check it. Click it. Re-Tweet it.

As suspected, Brandy will be part of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars lineup when the show returns Monday, Sept. 20. Brandy joins fellow VH1 alumnae comedian Margaret Cho (The Cho Show) and Florence Henderson (The Surreal Life, Season 6) in a particularly reality TV heavy cast that also includes The Jersey Shore‘s Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and The Hills‘ Audrina Patridge. Bristol Palin, David Hasselhoff, Jennifer Grey, Kurt Warner, Kyle Massey, Michael Bolton and Rick Fox round out the cast. [ABC]

OK! is reporting that Brandy is set to join what’s shaping up to be a reality TV-heavy cast of the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars. Reportedly, Jersey Shore‘s Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and The Hills‘ Audrina Patridge will be shaking their thangs alongside the moonlighting R&B singer (who, if the rumor is correct, will be double-moonlighting as the second season of Brandy & Ray J: A Family Business is set to air this fall) come September 20, when the show returns. We won’t know the lineup for sure until ABC’s press conference regarding the matter that’s set to air during the August 30 episode of Bachelor Pad. [OK!]
In this week’s Brandy & Ray J: A Family Business, we were treated to a delightful narrative regarding Ray J signing an artist deal with Universal. Once he announced the deal at the dinner in the scene above, his present collaborator (and Brandy‘s former collaborator) Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins swung by to help celebrate. During the course of his brief visit, Brandy demanded that she have some level of creative input on the Ray/Darkchild collabo. Darkchild shot her down on the spot and it only got messier from there, as Ray sided with Darkchild, telling Brandy she was “trippin’.” Who’s right here? Does Brandy have a right to check in on her brother’s work or is her aggression somehow tied to unresolved issues with Darkchild? We’ve seen her time and again call out people who give Ray more favorable attention than her (Sonja, Ryan, etc.). Is this more of that?

Brandy & Ray J: A Family Business has focused a lot on the tension in Brandy and Sonja Norwood‘s relationship, and an interview with Brandy in Parade suggests that said tension has informed the way she’s raising her own daughter, Sy’rai. Says the singer, “I love being a mom and I’m raising her in a different way than how I was raised. Some things that my mom did with me, I do with my daughter — it’s just a different dynamic.” She then elaborates on exactly what she’s doing differently:
“A lot of mothers feel like they’re the mom first, with that authority. But for me, I’m a friend first. I believe that just being there for my daughter as a friend more than ‘I’m in charge…’ causes her to be more open with me as a person. That’s just what our relationship is. Of course, there are times when I have to discipline her — I’m mom. But there’s still that nurturing and love there that we have. I know I’ll probably get flack for being a friend first, but it really works. She’s really honest with me. I’m just teaching her how to trust herself. I tell her all the time that my life is not your life — you have your own life.
At the end of the day we’re going to be friends. When she grows up, it’ll be about that friendship that we’ll have. She’ll come to me for any problems that she has. If I have an authoritative wall up, she’s going to rebel and not come to me and I don’t want that.”
In her own quiet way, this seems like a rebellion against the very concept of authority. Pretty sneaky, sis.
Brandy also describes her hopes for future collaborations with her brother Ray J, including a sitcom and a joint album. “It’s always been our dream to be like the new Donny & Marie,” she says. That’s the Norwoods, for you: always giving you something to look forward to. [Parade]
