Jay-Z hasn’t said whether he was “boycotting” the Grammys or not, but Fantasia Barrino definitely had beef. The singer told 106 & Park that she skipped the ceremony (where Fantasia won Best Female R&B Vocal Performance), because she wasn’t included in the Aretha Franklin tribute. “I’m going to be very honest with you. You know I wasn’t at the Grammys last night…Last night they were honoring someone who is my idol, Aretha Franklin, and there is no way I could have sat there and not got the happy feet and wanting to jump on the mic because she is my favorite so I felt like, you know, at the end of the day I should have been on that stage.” With Jennifer Hudson already on stage, did the producers feel that Fantasia was one America Idol veteran too many?

Not that Fantasia will be returning her trophy, though. “Actually, I scared my daughter because I just bust out and started crying, and she thought something was wrong with me…it’s been a long time coming for me and I have been through a lot of things so when [my manager] called me, I just bust out started crying because I felt like, man, I wasn’t gonna stop until I got one and I’m still not going to stop and you know this has just given me motivation to do my own thing. So, I just started crying and just thanking God that finally, eleven times nominated, finally I got one.”

With eight Grammy nominations under her belt, Fantasia finally snagged an award last night in the category of Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for “Bittersweet,” a song whose release and video shoot were chronicled in the most recent season of Fantasia for Real. Fantasia sang the hell out of “Bittersweet” (and virtually anything else she lends her voice to). This award was a long time coming.

In other Fantasia news, last week it was announced that she’ll portray gospel legend Mahalia Jackson in an upcoming feature biopic. Word is that she’ll gain upwards of 45 lbs., for the role. Sounds like fun! This may not be Fantasia’s only time at the rodeo (or in this case, biopic) — Aretha Franklin says she’s eying Tasia to portray her in the Queen of Soul’s own upcoming biopic. If that happens, Fantasia’s own eventual biopic should be called Lady Sings the Blues Singers’ Blues.

It was a rocky season of Fantasia for Real for your girl, who launched an album, lost a dog and found herself in the middle of an infidelity scandal that lingers to this day. In the end, as you can see from this final scene of the season finale, she called on her family for support and, somewhat miraculously, they delivered. Tasia’s family hasn’t always been reliable, but they came through when it really mattered. It’s as if everything she needed was right there in her back yard (or pool house-turned-studio, as it were). And Bunny and Teeny and Rico were there — no ruby slippers necessary.

CNN reports that according to sources in the courtroom during the Antwaun Cook‘s current child-custody case, Fantasia testified on the stand that she was aware that Antwaun was married and living with his wife from the start of her relationship with him. Fantasia has, up till now, contended that she thought Antwaun was separated. You can watch her say as much and otherwise discuss this matter in a recent episode of Fantasia for Real below:

This is just the latest in a bleak turn of events for Fantasia — earlier this week, RadarOnline.com reported that Fantasia also revealed on the stand that Antwaun got her pregnant and she had an abortion around the time of her suicide attempt in August. [CNN/RadarOnline.com]

Last Night’s Bag O’ Clips

On last night’s Football Wives

…things took a turn for the epic with an everybody-versus-Pilar feud that took up almost half of the episode. That it all went down on a boat ensured that things were kept classy…right? Well, regardless: jazzmaster!

Antwaun Cook’s Last Stand?

On this week’s Fantasia for Real, Fantasia meet with her famously still-married ex Antwaun Cook one last time — supposedly. During the course of their brief chat, it was evident why she fell for him in the first place: he’s capable of at least projecting compassion and he wasn’t afraid to man up and accept responsibility for Fantasia’s legal battle with his wife, Paula. “I know it was a mistake, ‘cause I was playing with emotions on both ends, and I shouldn’t have done that. I take blame for everything,” Antwaun admitted. But was that double-talk we detected? (He maintained, “I’ve always been separated.”) Despite pledging to be there for each other, Fantasia told us, “I don’t know if I’ll ever see him again.” What do you think — will she see him again? Her phrasing alone leaves the door open — the nail isn’t quite on the coffin of this one, it would seem. Or is it?

“Teeny’s got some crazy ideas!” Fantasia tells us at the top of this week’s episode of Fantasia for Real.

Last Night’s Bag O’ Clips

On last night’s Fantasia for Real, the idea-filled Teeny had his bodyguard Tank dress up in a diaper and walk around in public for the sake of marketing his CD.

And he wasn’t try to sell it to the 70-and-over crowd or anything!
