Continuing on in our look back at 2010, below is a wall of this blog’s animated gifs that moved us…and themselves.
We’ll be looking back at the year that was 2010 on VH1 all week, and to start things off easily is a group of screen shots amassed from various recaps over the past year from shows like Basketball Wives, You’re Cut Off!, Frank the Entertainer in A Basement Affair, What Chilli Wants and more. If you pay close attention, you may see an abstract story unfolding. Or maybe not! Enjoy the images…
Dawn Neufeld of Football Wives has agreed to blog for us, giving us weekly behind-the-scenes insight and dishing on each of her show’s episodes. Her take on the show’s finale is below…
Have vs. Have Not
“Football Wives finale Sunday” was a highly anticipated day in the Neufeld household. In addition to the airing of our final episode, we’d been invited by Amanda Davis to sit in her field-level suite at Cowboys stadium to see our home team take on the rival Washington Redskins. The Cowboys took an early lead but the defense faltered and the Redskins tied it up late in the fourth quarter. Our own David Buehler ended up kicking the game-winning field goal. The stadium erupted with excitement – we were so happy for him and Brittany.
Sunday was also a “first” for Ryan – it was his first time attending an NFL game when he wasn’t suited up on the field playing. I’m sure it was a little emotional for him and I bet he imagined himself on that field in front of 100,000 cheering fans making tackles and catching passes. But after standing for a quarter, Ryan had to sit down because his back started aching. We were reminded of the toll the game he’s played and loved for so many years has taken on him physically – he couldn’t play another season if he wanted to. I think knowing you can’t be on the field playing makes it a little easier to sit back and enjoy the show.
Throughout the first season of Football Wives, we’ve been hearing Dawn Neufeld‘s take on the series via her Dawn Neufeld’s Playbook blog for us. For an all together new perspective, Dawn’s husband, Ryan has written up a post regarding his take on the show, where he is with his career and how he feels about sharing such sensitive information about his family’s financial situation. It’s a nice look back and primer for the season finale, which will air Sunday at 9:30/8:30. (Watch the drama-heavy finale preview at the Football Wives video page.)
(And speaking of husbands, were you aware that Erin‘s man, Matt McBriar is leading the NFL in punting? The more you know!)
Ryan’s thoughts are below…
I’ve been keeping up with Dawn’s blog and have really enjoyed how well she’s been explaining the way certain situations took place on Football Wives. I can’t help but notice some of the negative feedback she’s been getting from the blog. In particular, there have been several comments that Dawn embarrassed me by being so open about our financial situation. I can tell everyone that my wife did nothing to embarrass me on the show. I appreciate her being so real. People have talked about her on the stripper pole on the boat. I was there and didn’t have a problem with it. I enjoyed watching the ladies relax and have a good time. They deserved it after all the stress and work in shooting the show.

Got Me!
I’m not easy to surprise. As a lawyer, I’ve been trained to analyze facts and situations. I ask questions when things don’t make sense. I always have a plan. So when Ryan tried to surprise me several years ago with a week-long trip to a resort in Mexico, I asked so many questions he finally had to reveal his secret and I ruined the surprise. That was the last time Ryan contemplated spontaneity with me – until now.
In addition to our busy Football Wives shooting schedule, I was working my regular job and trying to squeeze in auditions. I was busier than ever and was on autopilot – there wasn’t a lot of time for analyzing the craziness that was my life for the months we were in production. The show producers came to me and told me we were going to plan a special event and as busy as I was, when I heard the plan I was all in. Chanita tells a hilarious story about how she and George got married in their living room during training camp with three fat offensive lineman as witnesses. She talked all the time about how they didn’t have a real wedding, so when the producers came to me and said they wanted to plan a wedding ceremony for George and Chanita, I was all for it!
On last night’s Football Wives…
…Dawn and Chanita got into it with Pilar, yet again. (Are they playing for sport at this point?)
