To wrap up our look back at 2010, here’s a brief list of the most satisfying posts that ran on this blog this year. You can probably imagine that working at VH1 puts a person in touch with extreme personalities on a regular basis. Though that is amusing enough to get you through your day, it’s always nice when content you’re proud of as a blogger comes with it. Below are six such instances…
When we interviewed Angela “Myammee” Pitts way back in 2009 regarding her I Love Money 2 victory, she said that with the $250,000 prize money, “I’m thinking about opening up a shop in Miami.” Flash forward to now, and it looks like she’s made good on that plan: the video above comes from the recent grand opening of Myammee’s Hair Spa in North Miami Beach. It is apparently fashioned as both a place to get your hair did and a “retreat from that chaotic mess” (hence it being called a “hair spa,” not a salon). Good luck with that, though: I’ve seen Beauty Shop — I know how wild women can get around hair product.
But for real, this is awesome. Massive amounts of well wishes go out from us to Myammee for achieving her goal and doing something rational and productive with her prize money. Responsibility is so hard to come by in these parts that this is truly remarkable. [via Bourgy]
Yesterday, we shared the first part of Saaphyri’s first interview after spending the past 22 months in jail for forgery. While that half focused on her case and arrest, the second half below discusses Saaphyri’s experience in prison in at times graphic and almost always hilarious detail. Prison lesbianism, the food trade, bathroom woes and hanging out with murderers (including a Manson girl) are among the topics discussed. Saaphyri also lets us know what she’s up to now, making it clear that her spirit is indefatigable. Where there’s a will, there is a way…and a weave.
When Becky Buckwild tweeted last week that her fellow Flavor of Love 2/Charm School/I Love Money 2 star Saaphyri Windsor was set to be released from prison after spending 22 months in the California Institution for Women, we knew we had to talk to her about her time in the clink. Saaphyri graciously granted our request, and below is the first of two parts of our chat with Saaphyri about her arrest and time in jail. With the only thorough report on her arrest coming from Media Takeout, there’s been considerable confusion surrounding her case. Below, Saaphyri clarifies about her actual arrest (she was picked up while trying to reenter the country after filming I Love Money 2) and the reason for it (she denies the reported accusation of identity theft). She also talks about the elevated status that reality fame buys you in prison…
Above is the foray into rapping from I Love New York 2 and I Love Money 2‘s possible savant (and possible…not savant) Kwame “It” Smalls. If you skip past the minute and a half (or so) of him and his boys setting the video up (they contend that they stole Soulja Boy’s chain), you’ll see a fairly competent and entertaining performance from the seemingly multi-talented it. (He raps as slow as he…talks.) It’s a catchy tune, at any rate. Actually, wait, don’t skip past that part — take it at face value and marvel at how inane it would be if a (more or less?) public (and totally traceable) figure robbed someone and then recorded a video to brag about it. Yeah, that sounds about right coming from It. Glad to see that not being on TV hasn’t changed him!
Mercedes “Prancer” Clausen of VH1′s Flavor of Love 3 and I Love Money 2 is taking part in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Walk To Cure Diabetes. In the video above, Prancer gravely describes her cause, touching on the devastating effects of juvenile diabetes. She also tells you how you can help sponsor her (click here to donate). Bret Michaels, who raised money for juvenile diabetes on The Celebrity Apprentice, would be so proud!
I Love New York 2/I Love Money 2 star George “Tailor Made” Weisgerber has a funny post up at Asylum that details two self-imposed weeks without excessive grooming. He went from “weekly MANicures (buffed, not polished); biweekly haircuts, pedicures and mini-facials; and monthly chest, eyebrow and underarm waxing” to just “generic brands of soap, antiperspirant and toothpaste,” and lived to tell about it. Can you imagine: life without the necessities? This is Walden all over again.
Best of all, of course, is the pictorial evidence of his breakdown in hygiene (I won’t spoil it for you by posting it, but it’s in the post). He says he looks like a hobo, but I think he’s more on the 15-year-old-who-hasn’t-yet-been-introduced-to-razors tip. [Asylum]
Complex recently compiled its list of the 50 Hottest Reality TV Girls, and impressively, women affiliated with VH1 take up a dozen of the slots. Of that dozen, half of the girls are from For the Love of Ray J (the most represented show on the countdown, alongside The Real World — keep in mind though, that show has had 24 seasons, while Ray J has had two). Among the hotties are Danger (No. 42), Mz Berry (No. 32), Caviar (No. 30), Luscious (No. 22), Chardonnay (No. 18) and Cashmere (No. 14). The other VH1 girls are Viva Hollywood‘s Jenn Pinto (No. 44), The White Rapper Show‘s Misfit (No. 40), Myammee (No. 39), Deelishis (No. 29), Hoopz (No. 10) and Adrianne Curry (No. 8).
So, what do you think: is For the Love of Ray J a babe magnet of a reality show? According to the list, it’s turned out twice as many of reality TV’s hottest as America’s Next Top Model. In fact, my favorite thing about this list is that ANTM is represented as much as Flavor of Love (both come up three times). That is two giant orbiting balls of “Wooooooooow!” and LOOOOOOOOOOOOL! And I know that Complex skews “urban,” but damn son, where’s the love for Rock of Love? No honorable mention even, for that show’s willingness to constantly put itself out there (via silicone and…other stuff)? [Complex via ONTD]

Straight-up: the best part of my job as VH1′s shows blogger is interacting with the on-air talent. So many of them are natural entertainers that every slip of the tongue and motion of the lips is an act of hilarity. Below, I’ve compiled my 20 favorite quotes and exchanges from the extensive interviews that ran on the blog this year. There’s wit and insight to be found, yes, and at times even poignancy. But more often, it’s just all entirely ridiculous. Hey, gold is gold, right?
In this clip from the New York CW affiliate WPIX, four different people accuse I Love New York/I Love Money contestant Kevin “T-Weed” Watson of decieving them in various ways (for example, two people say he stole $1,300 from him, while another woman says he hired her to appear in an ad for Ed Hardy vodka, then when it came time to shoot it, informed her she had to be nude — an Ed Hardy rep says the company has no affiliation with T-Weed). It bears repeating that T-Weed claimed to be worth $100 million on I Love New York, only to be seemingly disproved upon elimination, and that castmate Onix referred to him as a “snake-oil salesman.” We reached out to T-Weed for a comment, but haven’t heard back. We’ll let you know how that goes. [Thanks for the tip, Darren.]
New update: T-Weed sent us an email with the subject, “my statement is no comment is no comment,” and then in the body: “no comment.” You guys got that?
