One of the most common comments we’ve seen regarding Let’s Talk About Pep is that people don’t buy Pep’s claim that she’s been celibate for four years. We talked about her “dry spell” in a video interview that will be posted in this blog soon, but in the meantime, we also wanted to point out that this is something Pep has discussed extensively in the past. There’s an entire chapter called “Celibacy: Very Necessary” in her 2008 memoir (also called Let’s Talk About Pep). In it, she writes:

Ask your average schlub what VH1′s most celebrated body part is, and he’d tell you “boobs,” thanks to the sea of silicone this network has sailed on for the past three or so years. But times are changing! Repeatedly, VH1′s reality programming has shown love for feet (and the men who love them), boldly venturing into an area of kink that few networks would. (In fact, the only bit of resistance to feet in recent memory was Flavor Flav’s break down over Grayvee’s offering of pigs’ feet on Flavor of Love 3. And Flav is…you know, Flav.) With this week’s premiere of Let’s Talk About Pep featuring toes that “taste like meatloaf,” we thought it was time to collect the instances of foot worship that have helped give this network a leg up on its peers:

We thought you’d like to relive the magic of a groove-getting-back Pepa heating things up in a jacuzzi with her date, B.J. That’s all great and typical all, but the scene becomes truly hilarious when he leans back and his hair catches on fire. Mmm, that makes me thirsty. Anyone have a spare Pepsi?

VH1 staple Pepa (as seen on The Surreal Life, The Surreal Life: Fame Games and The Salt-N-Pepa Show) is back with Let’s Talk About Pep. Her new reality show premieres Monday, January 11 at 10:30/9:30c on air, but the first episode is available for viewing online now (see above). The show’s format is based around girl talk — Pep and three of her friends dish on their love lives and we see what they’re gabbing about via a series of flashbacks. Pep’s story is particularly prickly — she’s been celibate for four years and she’s ready to break her dry spell. Also, keep your eyes peeled for the sharp-tongued Kittie. Her date continues VH1′s commitment to the portrayal of foot fetishism. Titillating stuff!

VH1′s perennial favorite personality Pepa is back with Let’s Talk About Pep (premiering Jan. 11 at 10:30/9:30c), and she’s on the prowl. Take an extended look at the series above, and read some more info on it in the press blurb below:

Let’s Talk About Pep is a real-life comedy following Sandra “Pepa” Denton of Salt-n-Pepa fame as she emerges from an over 4-year romantic and sexual sabbatical to search for love again. After being burned by bad boys one too many times, Pep decided to get out of the game for a while. Now Pep is joining forces with three of her closest girlfriends—all single and searching, too—to try the dating scene again. Together the four friends will laugh, cry, and dish lots of dirt as they all try to find true love. Pep’s partners in crime are: TV personality Jacque Reid, Joumana Kidd, former model, sports journalist and ex-wife of basketball superstar Jason Kidd; and the wild child of the bunch, voiceover artist and radio personality Kali Troy (a.k.a “Kittie”).
