The July/August 2011 issue of XXL comes out next week, but some newsstands have broken street date, giving us a peek at the Lil Wayne cover story by Shaheim Reid. In the magazine’s own preview of the story last month, Lil Wayne quipped that without an external deadline, his albums would never be done: “When [manager Cortez Bryant] call me and tell me and say, ‘You got such and such date is your deadline to stop,’ I be like, ‘Aight.’ ‘Cause I never stop recording, obviously. So it’s just on him to say, ‘Okay, stop. We’re gonna pick these songs, and that’s the album.’ That’s how we do it.”
A quote that surfaced today clarifies the issue:Tha Carter IV is being held up not by Weezy’s lack of a deadline, but by quality control. “I just don’t have the record. These n****s’ beats been sucking. I’m putting it out there: you producing, what y’all doing? Get right, man. Step it up. This is coming from a rapper. One of the best rappers. I ain’t saying I’m the best no more; because these n****s is too good these days. I got old. But damn, y’all n****s’ beats is terrible! [Chad Ochocinco walks into the room] These n****s’ beats sound like Ochocinco made them.”

Earlier this week at Dallas Media Day, VH1′s own Janelle Snowden snagged some time with VH1′s sometime-employee Chad Ochocinco. After dodging a question regarding changing his last name back to “Johnson” (“You never know!”), Chad was more receptive to Janelle’s line of questioning regarding his fiancée Evelyn Lozada of Basketball Wives. Among the tidbits:
- His nickname for her is “Pucci” (if their rumored spin-off ever comes to fruition, Pepe Loves Pucci would be the perfect name for it!).
- Their first date was at McDonald’s (“If you know me, you know McDonald’s is my love,” he says earnestly.).
- He considers Evelyn to be his homeboy…er, homegirl first.
On the topic of a wedding date, though, Chad was cagey again, simply stating that it’s Evelyn’s call. “She runs that show,” he said. While it doesn’t necessarily support Bossip’s report earlier this week speculating that the wedding will never happen given Chad’s track record, it does nothing to refute it, either…

TMZ is reporting that Basketball Wives‘ Evelyn Lozada may soon be a football wife. And in a match made in VH1 heaven (wherever that is), her fiance is none other than The Ultimate Catch‘s Chad Ochocinco, to whom she’s been linked for months and with whom she can been seen cavorting in the Basketball Wives 2 supertrailer. Chad supposedly popped the question today and Evelyn then tweeted what you see above, complete with a jealousy-inducing picture of the 10 carats in question:

Evelyn has otherwise played coy, tweeting “wink” at those inquiring about the engagement. TMZ says a date has yet to be set. We reached out to Evelyn for a comment and will post if and when we hear anything. [TMZ]

It’s evident from Brittany’s post-show interview below that he has little to no hard feelings about not being chosen as Chad’s ultimate catch (a lot of that could have to do with her enduring friendship with Rubi). Below, the Ochocinco: The Ultimate Catch runner-up talks baby daddy drama, her connection with Chad and how the presence of cameras affected her mysterious illness.

“I think people thought I was either really smart or they thought I was a trash bag,” Ochocinco: The Ultimate Catch‘s Tara tells us regarding her love-it-or-hate-it personality. In the interview below, the show’s class clown talks about her refusal to take reality TV seriously, the eyebrow-raising comments about race she made on the show and why she’s looking into a “slutty puppet master” Halloween costume…
