To wrap up our look back at 2010, here’s a brief list of the most satisfying posts that ran on this blog this year. You can probably imagine that working at VH1 puts a person in touch with extreme personalities on a regular basis. Though that is amusing enough to get you through your day, it’s always nice when content you’re proud of as a blogger comes with it. Below are six such instances…
Continuing on in our look back at 2010, below is a wall of this blog’s animated gifs that moved us…and themselves.
We haven’t said much about the RuPaul’s Drag Race makeover-show spin-off RuPaul’s Drag U, because (unlike its predecessor), it isn’t airing on VH1. However, we’d be remiss if we didn’t give you the heads-up on Drag U Later, a weekly online series on Logo’s NewNowNext blog featuring John Polly and Jon Mallow, whose Drag Race recaps we posted every week. Check out the most recent episode above, and hit up NewNowNext for extensive Drag U coverage. And keep in mind that every Monday during the show’s East Coast premiere (at 9/8c), the Logo homepage hosts a chat featuring John, Jon and celebrity guests (Drag Race 2‘s Mystique and Jujubee joined in the fun last night). It’s a show enhancement, kind of like padding and a pile of wigs to drag queens.
Below is a gallery of all the shots we took for our exhaustive coverage of the RuPaul’s Drag Race 2 reunion, just in case you just want to look and pictures and don’t want to be saddled down with the burden of words:
There’s even more wrap-up below:
While on the set of RuPaul’s Drag Race ReUnited, we amassed enough pictures of the queens snacking on chips, Cheetos and Red Bull (the cornerstone of any balanced snack) for this companion post to our exhaustive behind-the-scenes coverage. See below to see what happens when hunger strikes as hard as craft services. We think you’ll find that glamor has never seemed as pronounced as it does when in direct contrast with neon cheese dust.

Acapella renditions of “Jealous of My Boogie” and “LadyBoy.” A screechy reworking of “Halo.” Recurring interjections of “I love that drink!”; “Why you talkin’? Why are you talking?“; and “What’s Bollywood?” “Guuuuuurl…” “Hallelu!” Raven’s name (a lot). The popping of lipstick tops and the snapping of compact clasps.
These are the sounds that provided the animated background noise at a Culver City soundstage the mid-April day on which the RuPaul’s Drag Race 2 ReUnited special was filmed. Above that din at various points of time was a blogger’s dream: a cast of characters that generated content as a matter of course. Most of the time, I needed to do little more than press the button on my sound recorder or point my camera to be spoiled with sound bites, imagery and a steady stream of outrageousness. For the cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 2, it seems that entertaining is like breathing, and I inhaled as much as I possibly could.
Below, I exhale.
“Keep your eyes on the stars, you’ll never be one,” was Raven’s parting message, perhaps to the world, perhaps to the queen she lost out the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar to, Tyra Sanchez. If this came as a shock to you, you weren’t paying attention: Raven was, in her own words, not there to make a crotch-full of friends (whatever that means — even she isn’t quite sure).
Below, Raven talks about being “pissed off” over losing, her rivalry with Tatianna (among people), humility and why she thinks Tyra’s hyperventilating reaction to winning the show was an act.
In what is destined to be a controversial decision, Tyra Sanchez ended up beating out Raven and Jujubee for the coveted title of America’s Next Drag Superstar! And no matter where your opinion on Tyra falls, you have to admit that there has never been a better reaction to a reality show win than her on-the-floor, wig-pulling, hyperventilating response. And to think that she pulled through without the help of a brown paper bag. Tyra Sanchez: A champion through and through.
We sat down with the winner on the set of the RuPaul’s Drag Race 2 ReUnion to talk about her victory, her outlandish response to the win, tension with the other girls, her drag culture, her pop-star inspiration and her family. Below, we enter the interview portion of our pageant…
The RuPaul’s Drag Race 2 finale, final Untucked episode and ReUnion air tonight on Logo from 9/8c – 11:30/10:30c. Watch and chat with us!
