Terrible news to pass along this afternoon. Patrice O’Neal, comedian and former host of VH1′s Web Junk 20, passed away last night at the age of 41. As we told you back in October, Patrice had suffered a stroke, which was reportedly diabetes-related, and was never able to recover.

The news broke via the Twitter account of radio host Gregg “Opie” Hughes, who was very close to Patrice and also broke the original news of his stroke back in October. His tweet simply read, “Yes it’s true that our pal Patrice O’Neal has passed away. The funniest and best thinker i’ve ever known PERIOD. #devastated”

Everyone here in the VH1 family is also devastated by the loss of one of the warmest and funniest people we have ever had the pleasure of working with, and we’d like to send our thoughts and prayers to Patrice’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.

Sad news to pass along to you this afternoon. Patrice O’Neal, one of the funniest comedians working these days and a former host of VH1′s Web Junk 20, apparently suffered a stroke sometime last week. E! Online is reporting that comedian Jim Norton broke the news on the Opie And Anthony radio program earlier this morning, and the current prognosis does not look promising.

“We don’t know how he is. We don’t know how he’s going to be,” Norton told the hosts of the program. “I didn’t want to do this by myself. I wish we had more news for you.”

Everyone here in the VH1 family is hoping against hope that our old friend Patrice pulls through and makes a full recovery. In in the interim, Opie and Anthony have set up an email address, LoveForPatrice@gmail.com, that you can use to pass along your personal well wishes for one of the funniest guys we have ever had the pleasure of working with. Get well soon, big guy.

Nimrods surround us, no doubt. But what kind of nimrod actually tries to “honk” the boobs on a computer generated chart of the female torso while he’s delivering the weather forecast to a Nowheresville, Indiana TV audience?

Web Junk is back in action. Be sure to watch it tonight on VH1.
